Derek,

How many years should a cartridge be good for?

BTW did you look at the complaint in detail? They are looking at cartridges for commercial printers that have separate print heads that could be damaged by out of spec ink. They then link the issue to expiration dates on a couple of consumer products.

I have a cottage that I visit in the summer and have an old printer there and have been using one of the identified 'cartridges' for over 3 years. Is it optimum - no, but it still works. If I had an expensive commercial unit - I might appreciate the automatic feature.

Since many users refill consumer cartridges - wouldn't this have been noticed a long time ago?

Don't over-react.

John

You buy the thing, it tells you how long it will work.

<<HP wants you buying their cartridges regularly, and doesn't want you refilling them yourself. So they program the cartridge to "shut off".>>

No suit filed on refilled.
