while cutting social programs

Show me just one social program with less money in any passed budget than in the previous year. That is a challenge you will not be able to rise to.

"The war machine" is increasing short term because of Iraq. The social programs are already higher and the forces pushing them higher are forces that will work over generations.

If your looking at social security as a way to keep people out of poverty, then you are depending on a not very well targeted program.

As for libertarians, I lean that way but that doesn't mean I don't think government is never any good at anything.

Is the concept of self determination dead?

It was dead in Iraq when Saddam was in charge. We're helping it live again.

When did Nation Building become a "libertarian" priority?

It didn't.
