Do you ever operate from any position other than fear? The two situations are no where near analogous. However, there is little reason to post the differences because there is no way you will ever change your position........mainly because fear is a great motivator.

Could it be that I have more experience with what happens when things go wrong?

Maybe if the US spend 3% on defense in 1940 and before (instead of much less than that), maybe there would not be a WWII, maybe the outcome would be a lot different, such as the US being better prepared, beating Hitler much more easily, possibly liberating Eastern Europe rather than Soviet Union "liberating" it, possibly resulting in > 50M people not spending 45 years behind iron curtain, which could possible mean that there would be no ambitious Soviet Union, but rather isolated, inward looking island off Communism, possibly averting the 45 year Cold War all together...
