In what sense are you "supporting the troops" if all you do is put up a sign?

I understand now. You're talking about material support. That hadn't occurred to me as the purpose of the display. I assumed that if one wanted to materially support the troops one would contribute either directly or to an organization that did that sort of work. When you buy one, does the packaging indicate that money will be donated?

I assumed that people bought and affixed those magnets to send the message that the owner is proud and supportive of the troops and that people seeing that message should get their heads on straight and do the same. Or that the owner, while disapproving of Bush and the war, still supports the troops. My context was that of some folks thinking that people who don't like the president or the war are, therefore, unsupportive of the troops.

Thanks for clearing it up.
