Pretty far fetched. Here is what I think is plausible if you are looking for a plausible conspiracy theory (probably not true but much more plausible than yours). He was hired with the expectation that the left wing would thoughtlessly have a gay bashing hay day over it... just as another dart throw at the Bush admin. Which is supposed to then backfire into one of their own standards. The next time sexy stuff flares up on the left they wont be able to claim the high road of (lay off of personal and private lives). I am convinced that is exactly what was accomplished with the Danny Williams story. Every time there was a Clinton sex revelation the clinton team was all over it to squelch it. When Clinton was in really deep doo doo over Monicagate and bombing the Aspirin factory here comes the biggest scandal of all Danny Williams-Clinton. ... What was odd (not really) was that not a word of denial, explanation, or anything came out of the white house. The story was debunked through DNA evidence and the other result was that the embarrassed Anti-Clinton mob who had been so vocal in their false accusations regarding Danny were muffled somewhat on the other stuff. For clever (and corrupt) politicians that tactic seems like the easiest thing in the World to pull off in order to quite an unruly mob.
