I remember well the Club of Rome stuff. However, the declining demographic trends I think might have more validity. They are certainly more measurable and predictable in their effect. The COR stuff was built ultimately on speculation.

The conundrum is higher education and the consequent mass entry of women into the higher paid work force, a terrific idea which I support but which seems to have damaging long term demographic implications.

Clear-eyed policies which provide serious economic incentives to those who choose larger families are required.
