re: But his frequent references to "Vladimir" and the "fella" were peppered with targeted criticism of the state of democracy in Russia with which the more hawkish members of his administration are said to have lost patience.

It's almost funny... like a Frank Capra movie. Except it's not fantasy, it's a religious evangelist that thinks he can do no wrong let loose on the world stage.

Yup. Bush is all smiles. He has no clue how pissed off Pootie-Poo is; that BRIC now is a done deal; and that Russia will work closer than ever with Iran. Not a GD clue!

Meanwhile, FOX News' headline is: Mission Accomplished! So the party faithful think he "dun gud o'er in Urop".

Bush's European trip reminds me of that movie Evita that I was dragged to a few years ago. Apparently, back in the 1950s, Eva Peron went on a big trip to Europe to impress the Europeans how cool Argentina was. She would get all dressed up in her hot new clothes and would look great. The Europeans would greet her nicely and would be all smiles to her face but behind her back they called her a 'ho.

Flash forward 50 years................. ;~)
