The country as a whole would be better served with some nice paying jobs that could be done by machines, or foriegn workers, or trained dogs. There is easily enough productivity to provide everyone, it would be better if they weren't on welfare.

This is a consequence of "the commons" the idea that each job comes out of the personal paycheck of some factory owner when in fact each job is a collective good idea.
