Thanks Ken ... and lol .. I hear you. This is kinda like ... but not really .. a venture. I'd have to call this a labor of love more than a venture. It lost venture status a few years ago when SARS and the Bird Flu popped up and all the breeders refused to add to their existing flocks. Then Sophia contracted one of the 1st cases of PDD the vet had seen in 10 years. Possibly from fresh imported veggies or fruit. Sooo. My pet Congo Grey is here .. saying in a very quiet and questioning voice "pistachio ? .. 1 .. 2 .. THREEEEEE .. " She can count past four but she knows she can only have 3 Pistachios (the salt is bad for their little livers). and "Wahddaya want .. a Chip .. Chip Chip ...?" I guess she likes the Semi Sector too. <g> I should have just left well enough alone. I taught her the Old MacDonalds Farm song a long time ago. She sings it every day and makes all the imitation sounds of the animals in her own shortened version. I never should have said "Bow Wow" recently but I was trying to teach her the "W" sound. She couldn't do a W sound until Bow Wow struck her chord. You know how "New Words" are ?? This is akin to "Dude" .. U know Dude? We are now being totally inundated with "Bow Wow". Bow wow wow wow. She's got the W sound now .. 4 sure. Yes the Lemon Trees and leaves .. while in HS I lived in Phoenix on the north side of Camelback Mt but if you're familiar .. it was near the foot of Mummy Mt. near Shea Blvd & Paradise Valley Drive. We had those "lemon trees" with the Thorny leaves and orange and others that had been grafted .. that were more for Decoration than anything else cuz the Fruit Sucked. It never got Juicy .. it was always dehydrated from the desert sun. And my step mom still had to have another grafted tree thing planted in the Front yard for some ungodly sum cuz the fruit combination of colors would be pretty. I kept thinking .. Why? .. none of these fruit trees have fruit we can actually eat except the dates from the date palms. Even at my age I still wonder why it was necessary to hula hoe the desert sand and rock yard to take out weeds. They were the only green things on the ground besides the dichondra ... [I spelled it correctly SI .. m-w.com ] ... that had to be watered B4 the scorching sun came up very far or it would be STEAMED ! The weeds didn't need watered and they still lived. And even if they were cut off below the surface they still came back up. But I do still kinda miss the date palms. I just didn't like to ladder up and get the branches full of dates. I think every living plant there had thorns of one type or another. But that was many years ago .. makes me wonder how how Scottsdale is today. >>=>NEVER GIVE UP!!<=<< And You are Most Certainly Correct. So I don't give up .. I just slow down or regroup as necessary. Guess you could say I'm a lot like a Weed. :) Ray
