I don't think that the law will change, the agenda to squeak Arnie through on the change is too corrupt to get enough support in congress. It would have to change on principle not on one man's personality.

Hillary is rattling around. If she is not careful her sabre will get busted before she even takes it out of the sheath. She is being careful but that may not be enough, she is seen by many as a less than genuine opportunist.

The left needs someone who is totally authentic with charisma, style and a powerful message. ... Dean doesn't have it.

There is a lot of momentum toward conservatism. I keep my eye on the youth to gage that. So we could end up with another conservative administration. A lot can happen in the next four years and one bad experience or feelings of being stifled by conservatism could put the country in the mood for a liberal shift.

For the moment the ranting and bashing of Bush is having a counter effect. He isn't fighting back and people are getting tired of listening to the anti-bush rhetoric, it just sounds like meanness now. He is quietly and effectively accomplishing the goals he set out to.

The new left needs to rise up on higher ground, not simply scratch and scrape trying to bring Bush down. Then they will be able to take back some of the people who have abandoned them over obsolete rhetoric and values of the 60s and 70s. It is a very different culture we are facing.

Regional and national boundaries don't make the distinctions they once did. People are re-aligning themselves on the basis of principle and world view rather than on more local colors.
