they marvel that the Chinese can make any money when their input costs are so high they had a blurb on Volvo Radio (NPR) tonight about the recent Chinese mine disaster which killed hundreds--apparently the payout to the bereaved families amounts to 20,000 yuan per dead person, or less than $3000. meanwhile, JC Penney supposedly had to pay $11 million for damages resulting from a bad haircut, while McDonald's supposedly had to pay a couple million due to a coffee spillage. so, i expect China has a ways to go before their input costs approach American standards...

Bangkok,Thailand 2/26/05Late breaking Chicken Little News---Authorities investigating the tragic death of Chicken Little have shed some light on the cult like bulletin board(boards?)that may have lead Chicken Little towards her tragic death.A cult--I mean board—member klaser was contacted by investigators and immediately(no naked pyramid needed) fingered two reported leaders with code names Mish and Russwinter Mish was contacted and said he knew nothing of Chicken Little’s plan and had no responsibility.He noted that even though a registered Democrat she had fallen for the compassionate conservative bit and had voted for Bush and he didn’t give a darn what happened to her.He did however feel it would likely have a drastic effect on consumption of Chicken with a likely plummeting of demand in the US .This would result in credit contraction even without a Federal Funds Rate increase.Then the crash!Even if chicken spiked higher this would be deflationary he reasons as there would be less money left to spend on other goods.Got Long Bonds he asked?Before getting off the phone he was heard muttering “klaser if he ever gets back on my board its ban number six…or is that seven” Russwinter(so far to the left…or is that right of Mish that he has come full circle and they are back to back) was called and began yelling “Inflation du Jour,Inflation du Jour. Its Chicken this time!”He went on to say next” Flucht in die Sachwerte” over and over again(likely a cultic code meant to be passed over the internet to his followers…oops...sorry forget we said that).He then said “Its Flucht in die Sachwerte first and next its Russian Winter.Got Gold?”As he hung the phone he was heard”klaser immature jerk but I don’t even ban his type” Klaser did agree to an interview but it should be reported that he laughed at inappropriate times during what was an ordeal for us.He said “If only Chicken Little had gone to Brazil this never would have happened.Real interesrt rates are so high in Brazil that they cant afford to go out on the street and spread the flu .They are all at home watching TV(or having sex)”He then said” Got Brazil stocks and a trigger finger”Friends of klaser were contacted and said to pay him no mind.They report he has spent years in a depressed phase talking about the US economy being a house of cards and being about to implode.They note that lately though he had made some money in Brazilian stocks flipped into a manic phase and is completely unreliable so not to believe anything he says(writes) (Sorry Russ some lurkers mailed me privately and asked for an encore ..No more foolishness.You and Mish are great I love these boards)
