There are lots of words I don't like. Hegemony is a worse thing than a word. It can boil down to a lesser of two evils, right? If you were in prison (a bad thing) would it be better to be cell mates with a sadistic serial killer (a bad thing) or an embezzler (a bad thing)?

Hegemony is similar. There is always going to be some type of hegemony until we get conquered by the Reptilians from Zeta Reticuli. Then we will be under their hegemony.

Much like democracy is the worst form of government, excluding all the rest, an American economic and cultural hegemony is best for me and my family, but I want it to be compassionate and honest for as many people in the world as possible. Maybe that isn't possible but it is a goal.

I can't say that a Chinese hegemony would be better than an American hegemony for more American PEOPLE, but maybe it is for MORE people in TOTAL. If it means it hurts me, I'm not enough of a martyr to want it for my kids and me. Maybe a European one would be better, but it wasn't in the 1940's.

Did I use hegemony too many times? Maybe you've warmed up to it by now! <g>
