Gold Bond Medicated Anti-Itch Powder, Viscine, extra batteries, phone cards, candies, etc seem like little enough for us to help with.

Personal stuff like this has always come out of the soldier's pay. The problem over there? No PX's. Why doesn't the army come up with this list and make it available? Not the army way. :>)

If our guys and gals request some items that were missed, or that they might have to pay for themselves, well then, some of us are more than willing to help facilitate their requests.

I find it odd how accepting you and LB are about this. He says it's always been that way. You emphasize civilian willingness to help. I see a problem that can and should be fixed. Like in this day and age the Army can't hire a guy to be the Gold Bond guy and make sure that there are adequate supplies? To me that shows a lack of respect for the troops. Sure, you and I can compensate for that but at what cost? We know the military understands the concept of economy of scale. Why not apply that to Gold Bond powder? There's a lot of lost national productivity in this. Not to mention the unnecessary discomfort of the troops.

All these things are delivered to an area the size of California. Sometimes inbetween incoming rockets or all sorts of other unpleasant things....

I can't even keep all the things I need for our small family and pets. I am always running out of things. Even when I try to supply us with 10 years of stuff, I am still always running out. Also, like umbrellas, do I ever have them where I need them?

I can relate to the supply sergeant trying to supply 150,000 or so men and women with all the stuff they need.

As far as Gold Bond is concerned, they should be a Corporate sponsor. They should have somebody over there supplying all the men and women with all the Gold Bond they need.

You know like at the end of those PBS programs, they run a list of Corporate sponsors. This part of the war is brought to you by the generous contributions of the following organizations....
