He is not apologizing because he is wrong. He is apologizing because he is president of Harvard and people like Clinton, Daniel Gergen and others are advising him to apologize as a form crisis management.

With all the science out about gender differences in aptitude for spatial concepts and other cognition differences it is certainly a possible hypothesis that this could have something to do with performance differences. These are the skills needed for geometry and calculus. How much, when, under what circumstances any cognition differences might cause women to drop out of math are all further questions that people should be able to ask. These are questions that might end up actually helping educators teach young women better. Shut down the debate and these improvements may not take place.

All colloquia are held in the Cotton Mather Conference Room, Porcellian Club, Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge, and are open to all Fellows of Harvard College, and we do mean fellows. The public is not invited as it could not possibly comprehend the complexities of the topics presented and anyway it would just be a lot of ungrateful Negroes and bitching Lesbians on the rag.<<

Actually, I just realized that Summers' version of eugenics would make my life easier. I have come to hate handling divorce cases because I hate custody fights with a passion. The rest of it is fine, some of it I even enjoy.

Using Summers' logic, we should never have custody trials again. Women get custody automatically. After all, we all know that women are genetically more suited to nurture children. Take, as an example, Summers' own daughter, who named her trucks "Daddy truck and baby truck." She is clearly destined to be a great home maker.

Men should just go to work, and let women stay home with the children, and in the event of divorce, the women get the children and the men work and send money.

Summers, I embrace you!

(BTW, we all know that women make better divorce lawyers, right?)

<< Educated and intelligent people in this day and age cannot make this point. >>

How telling. How totally politically correct. Whether there are fat tails or not, what aspects of the distribution might mean, what might cause the tails, what socio=economic or nurturing or genetic or any other factors might be applicable....none of this can even be discussed. Educated and intelligent people simply cannot make this point. Too risky. Someone might be offended. To examine possibilities is simply not possible and to try is inexcusable.

What total b_lls__t.
