Are there any good chemical, copper or paper CRTs??? China does not have these resources and demand for them should be increasing as China grows. TIA

EP,

I've accumulated quite a few business trusts, particularly in oil and gas services, but also WTE.UN. I noticed you lightened up.

I am a little concerned about the gov'ts proposed caps on pension funds investing in business trusts. (Actually I was given a link, below, which is of business trusts. I didn't realize NIF.UN, LIF.UN, FDG.UN are all business trusts, but pipelines are not, except ALA.UN which is more of a holding company)
tsx.com

I am just wondering if you lightened up for this reason? I am actually now finding the trusts underperforming other energy issues. Did energy used to be 20% of the S&P? Now it is 8.6%?

There are a few S&P components that will have to really appreciate here. Personally, I've been playing the oil sands, but having a hard time keeping ahead of picks like XTO and PXP and CRK.

The business trusts may have to go. It would be imprudent to hold them even if there is a suspicion of them being capped, because selling will occur. There has already been a hit from withholding taxes on US investors.

Am I too conservative? After selling WTE do you still hold some business trusts?

D

Don't short it, buy a put instead. Avoids the dividend problem.
