10% of draft age men served in the military during Vietnam. Of those in the military, only one in four served in combat. Of those, only one in 4 were draftees. 40%-60% of ALL TROOPS served in Vietnam, so the odds of a draftee serving there were less than a volunteer.

There were enough deferments that if you didn't go to college, didn't work in a job that was considered essential, weren't married and if married and didn't have a child yet, the chances of you being drafted was pretty high. Especially at the peak. Needless to say, the higher your socio-economic status was, the more likely you were to be in a position to have a deferment, except possibly being married with enough kids.
Yeah. And the point he is trying to make is crap.
