The point being Bob that the actual thread had been dead for a long time....

You said "clubhouse/thread".

only speaking about the clubhouse with a quarter million posts

174,782

83% of the total clubhouse messages (that's right -- the clubhouses contain 211k messages, not the 250k you credit to a single one). That's 83% of a separate dataset being associated with what's effectively a dead stock. I just don't get why it's such a big deal.

I would consider doing something like making old clubhouse posts accessible on a read-only basis (it'd screw up the numbering to incorporate them into the existing message structure and their functionality is duplicated, and better, with what we've got), if anyone could give me some decent reasons why it's worth the effort (days, possibly weeks -- not minutes) and enough people wanted it. The reasons would need to be better than one person sending me a nastygram saying, effectively "Give it to me because I want it".

I'm looking through the clubhouse and that whole segment of the site was pretty much dead for well over a year with one exception: The Datarace clubhouse, with posts having nothing to do with Datarace or anything else remotely like the market. Just a chat room. Heck, that's easily done in a Coffee Shop forum with vastly superior features.

The last month of data in the Clubhouse section contains about 35 posts per day total. Written by a total of 12 people, only 3 of whom (yourself included) wrote more than 5 posts per day. The 3 of you wrote 79% of the posts in the last month the clubhouse was in existence.

You realize, don't you, that this site is populated by tens of thousands of active users and posters?

I can't imagine any kind of compelling argument that could be presented to devote a bunch of my limited time to rolling out a separate, cannibalizing, largely duplicative sub-system for the minor benefit of 3 people who can easily have their cake with the existing system.

I only browsed a clubhouse very briefly a long time ago and as far as message interfaces go, it was tiddly-winks compared to what we have now and even compared to the version we bought. I can't remember any feature of it that we don't already have a much better version of on this version of the site. Is it the fact that you could read 50 messages at a time? Heck, this version of the site lets you read 10 to 100 at a time; your choice.
