Semantics.

It's not reset when you hit the "Submit" button. The Submit button calls a routine that inserts the message into the database then that routine takes you to that message. It's the act of reading your message that's the "culprit" because when you read the last message of a thread, your counter is reset. There's a distance of 3 separate routines between the Submit click and the counter reset.

This was done because in an earlier version of it, you'd write a message then go back to your Subjectmarks page and it'd show one new message for that board. You'd click the number and find that it was your message.

it worked fine on the old platform and doesn't on the new one.

I know.

The solution isn't obvious, though. But give me some time to think of it. I'm aware of the problem and need only think of a solution that doesn't cause other problems or inconveniences.
