Public health officials are usually MD's or PA's. What the heck do they know about health anyway?

As for hard evidence...I have hard evidence. If I go to a place where smoking is allowed indoors, my eyes burn, my nose runs, my throat is irritated and my lungs are irritated. What more evidence do I need than that to ban smoking in public places? The effects last for about one day for every hour I'm exposed to second hand tobacco. Are there long term effects? I don't know for sure, but I tend to think that if smoking has been determined to be unhealthy, then breathing second hand smoke can't be far behind. I believe that it is a health hazard, even if it's only the burning eyes, throat and lungs we have to worry about. I highly doubt it's as benign as you propose. A ban on smoking in public places is needed.

By the way can you post a link to a study that is not on that one crumudgeon's web site. You know an actual link to an actual research agency where they state authoritatively that second hand smoke is not a hazard?
