What is your point?

You asked how a Canadian should feel if the government does not allow them to spend on a terminally ill patient. I am in the U.S. and it is currently irrelevant for us.

You do point out a problem with disassociating responsibility for payment of medical claims from those closest to the need. Even U.S. insurance invokes a third party payer who can make different decisions than the family would without the intermediary.
