>>>> Do you understand at all how an Iraqi 20something kid would kill himself in order to.....prevent democracy in the ME? That makes zero sense.

No. Honestly, the entire concept of a suicide bombing, for ANYONE, is not comprehensible to me. However, if you watched the 60-Minutes episode with NYC Islamic school teens proclaiming they could envision themselves committing a suicide bombing under certain circumstances, then you can see that it is a clear case of brainwashing on the parts of Islamic elders.

If you were raised in a society in which suicide bombing was the most noble gesture, and you believed democracy was evil, who knows what you might do? Mind control is a powerful thing.

Is this intentional baiting on your part?

No, I just think the liberal position (and I read only the one post, so I'm not sure what your position might be) has been wrong all along and is now looking pretty absurd.

You obviously didn't read the earlier post saying its worthless to consider yourself liberal or conservative anymore, and each issue should be weighed on its own merits, not its party affiliation.

I didn't read it but I don't agree with that premise.

Each issue SHOULD be considered on its own merits, but that doesn't comport with reality. Sometimes, as a conservative, it is necessary to support positions you disagree with in order to insure your important objectives are met.

As an example, I'm decidedly pro-choice, but can swallow hard and allow for a Far Right position on the issue, in order that my deeply held feelings about the Mideast and Social Security are supported by the administration. I've fully comprehended the scope of the SS issue since the early 80s (when it was last looked at) and I believed we should have restarted the Gulf War in 1998 when Clinton failed to act (I was also very disappointed that Bush didn't act on SS during the first term, but I understand why). So, I can tolerate some pro-life dogma as long as these other issues are getting addressed.

And we have the liberals claiming it is all a big Bush mistake.

Is this intentional baiting on your part? Well I'm not falling for it....:-) You obviously didn't read the earlier post saying its worthless to consider yourself liberal or conservative anymore, and each issue should be weighed on its own merits, not its party affiliation.

Baiting? Yup. He's been doing it for 5 years. He has a one track mind and tries to support his arguments with anecdotal information. He used to post regularly here until he got busted so many times for misinforming the thread.

And yup, he has a one track mind when it comes to conservative vs liberal. He firmly believes in those labels and he denigrates liberals like Hitler denigrated the Jews.
