Maureen Dowd along with William Safire and another journalist were on Meet the Press...

When Russet asked her about the war in Iraq and was she not happy now that Democracy was going to be installed...(my word ) this after the other two acknowledged that yes they were pleased
She replied well I am old fashioned. I just don't like being lied to by our government.

Classy lady.

It's worth pointing out that Saddam linked himself with terror.

For example, he gave safe haven to Abdul Rahman Yasin, who made the explosive used in the first attempt to bring down the WTC (on 2/26/93 - 6 dead, 1042 injured), which happened to occur on the Friday just before the Sunday which was the 2nd anniversary of Saddam's defeat in Kuwait.

Iraqi diplomats sponsored terror movements, including Abu Sayyaf in the Phillipines - on one occasion, they gave two terrorists a ride in an embassy car to an attempted bombing of the Thomas Jefferson Cultural Center.

Saddam also gave haven to:

Abu Nidal, whose terror organization killed over 400 people (10 of them Americans).

And Khala Khadar al-Salahat, an Abu Nidal deputy who provided the Semtex to Libyan agents which brought down Pan Am 103 in December 1988 (259 dead, 189 of them Americans).

And Abu Abbas, who was resposible for the 1985 Achille lauro hijacking and murder of Leon Klinghoffer, and who died in Us custody after beig captured by US Marines in Baghdad.

And many many more, including Abu Musab al Zarqawi.

Not to mention that Saddam sent assassins to attempt to kill ex-President Bush.
