Oh, so you think defense is an entitlement program? Interesting...

No, they don't spend much on defense. For one, there isn't anyone they are really concerned about, although that might change. Unless they changed the constitution we wrote for them, their forces can't legally operate outside of Japan in any case.

Personally, I am a little surprised that they haven't hit on that before. Their economy has been wheezing for 15 years now, they need to do something. A militarized Japan is the traditional solution to their woes. It didn't work so well for them last time, but you never know.

I heard Japan is gonna reconsider their military options, because of N. Korea, even thinking about getting a couple of nukes. They don't spend on Defense now because we cover their butts, just like Europe.

I guess you don't know much about Japan.
