Oh, the word is out, and the bottom line notices.
In our case, I think it is gross mismanagement, going back even a few administrations, but mostly with this one.

Step 1) Consolidate the 2 hospitals in town, and close down the pediatric unit in the move.
2)Fight the CNA organizing at the NLRB. Decide you are part of metro Santa Rosa instead of rural. Don't check reimbursement rates until after the feds tell you "that metro gets less funding than rural, and give us back some money."
3)Forget to do paperwork for a telemetry unit, so convert the post-ICU (intermediate care, whatever) unit to regular ol' med-surg. Figure out you haven't got the nurses, so close those 6 med surg beds. Hire an assistant director of med-surg nursing. Huh?
4) Create a marketing department with 4 or 5 folks for a 75 bed hospital.
