I didn't rule out military action because that would be a mistake. I have no idea if Iran has friendly intentions or not so to rule out military action at this point would be foolish. Would you already be ruling out military action?

I don't see that "friendly" is the operative word. I have no reason to put military action on the table. Bush says the idea of military action is ridiculous and is an option. Good deal, we put the ridiculous as an option.

Do you believe Iran exhibits the kind of judgement (ie funding terrorism) that you'd like to see from a country that will soon be capable of creating a bomb?

Soon be capable? That's news to me. How close are they? I know you can't answer that with any degree of certainty, but it did sound neat that they would "soon be capable".

Forget the fact that Pakistan and North Korea already have them which doesn't exactly thrill me.

I'm not inclined to ignore the realities of the world to take a position. Pakistan does have the bomb, it's been tested and the government of Pakistan could be overthrown next week by fundamentalists. You want to ignore Pakistan who does have the bomb and stop Iran when you don't even know if they have a plan to develop the bomb. North Korea is another matter, it's damn hard to develop an operating nuclear weapon. North Korea has never tested a weapon. As such, the best they could have is untested prototypes. They may work, they may not.

Further Israel does have the bomb [tested in South Africa] and they refuse to sign the NPT. That's part of the picture.

The US starting a new design for yet another nuclear weapon is part of the picture.

I suggest that you look at some of my other posts on the issue so that you can clearly see I am a man of conscience.

And why would you think I haven't seen some of your other posts? I have and I'll refrain from saying what I think of them.

We've made errors in the past and we'll make more as a nation and a people in the future.

And what are the consequence of those errors? What accountability do we take for those errors? We shrug it off [at best] as a boo-boo more frequently we [as a government] don't even acknowledge that we made an error. Your statement becomes nothing more than an excuse to continue to do what we want, when we want and not be accountable.

Most fair minded people would agree.

And how did you come to that conclusion? How did you decide that "most fair minded people" agree with you? Your comment is reminiscent of another comment I saw you make. ~"People that read my posts and don't respond know I'm right". That's either BS or you have psychic powers.

Time to dig out of the snow again. Have a good day.
