If you take the time to examine a Treasury Statement you will find that Special Treasuries are redeemed and issued nearly every day. More complete information is provided in the Monthly Treasury Statements, but, for example, look at the most recent Daily Treasury Statement - for February 24. And look at Table IIIA. You will see the value of those issued and the value of those redeemed under "nonmarketable". It is the Government account series that are found in Trust Funds.

You will find the interest paid on the securities identified in the Monthly Treasury Statements. While the Unified Budget and resultant accounting are fraudulent, there isn't any possibility of the special treasuries in the SS Trust Fund being eliminated.

The special treasuries in the SS Trust Fund will be redeemed. Net redemptions will start in about 2018 and the only way will require borrowing more money. And, who is going pay? Those who pay income taxes would pay, but tax revenues will be inadequate and the money will be borrowed from the public. But this will be chicken feed compared ot the borrowing the will be required if the Administration is successful in using some of the SS taxes for private accounts.
