Sidney, Since God granted humans free will, that would cause me to believe that we are each, and every, entitled to our opinions. But, as you say, opinions are not a factor in the ticket to Heaven. The point I was trying to make, is that Christianity is being done a disservice by Christians sects being at verbal war all the time.

I still maintain that the message of Jesus was very simple, easy to understand, and doesn't take a great deal of effort to follow,if one's heart has a clear view of the the intentions. It is the doctrines that have been contrived by humans that has caused the conflict between the very people that should be of one accord. I don't think that all the arguing, and sometimes hatred, between Christians, is what Jesus had in mind for us.

Sidney, I commend you on your stand for Christian values. I personally believe that God is sovereign and all things, good and bad are used by God to bring his purposes to fruition in this world. God has raised up patriots, kings and Indian chiefs. We live in a free society today because we have strong deterrents and men who are willing to be brave and patriotic. Some of us must believe in God and Country to establish equal rights and freedom from oppression. Otherwise, we would not be speaking English but probably German or Japanese if no one stood up for country. I don't believe for a moment what you advocate would ever be what God desires or he would not have raised up all to be different.

There are many religious fundamentalists who would actually force their will upon us to live again as we were once forced to live. Letting a religious ruler or king burn us at the stake or torture us if we tried to express ourselves as free men, able to find our own understanding of God's Word as led by the Holy Spirit. Do you advocate another King George and Catholicism? I think not. As I say I admire your stand but I believe that we must not become rigid as the Church once was.

Christ was not rigid. He was very much a moderate.
