The Arab street is awakening. They are starting to lose their fear and are starting to take on the despots and terrorists who have held them down. I can foresee a time quickly approaching when our active, aggressive involvement will no longer be necessary to keep this ball rolling.

Our actions in the Middle East were akin to Sisysphus rolling the stone up the hill. However, this time around, it looks like we've managed to get the stone to the top and it is starting to roll down hill on its own. Anyone that gets in its way will be crushed.

You may be right. However, there have been these hopes before that never went beyond the hoping stage. When Abdullah of Jordan died a few years ago, everyone thought his son would begin the democratization process. It never happened. When Mubarak of Egypt took over 20 years ago, he promised to bring democracy to Egypt......he never did. This kind of thing has been repeated over and over for decades.

Now Iraq and Afghanistan both have the possibility of becoming a democracy. However, that possibility hangs on a string and is requiring massive amounts of military intervention to make it happen. That should tell you something.

Time will tell.
