CVRD was a stateowned enterprise milked for profits and not much was invested. No professional management. A candidate for the senate would lose an election and was parked there as a director. That kind of thing.

Then the government privatized it and it transformed itself in a market oriented company.

If you like big mineral resources, look at FDG for metalurgical coal and NEM Newmont for gold. FCX has a great ore body, but it's in Indonesia.

For really high grade gold, look at Gold Corp, GG, with the Campbell Red Lake mine. They often take some of the better samples to investor confernces - they are jaw dropping.
