A good friend of the family passed away three weeks ago. My dad's best friend in fact. Well this fellow Bill Evens was and his boys still are in the wreaking business.
Well Bill once went over to the Alameda navel base and put in a bid for an aircraft carrier the navel was scraping. He wanted to turn it into a mobile home park but the navy wouldn't sell it to him because they insisted it be scraped. It's sounds funny but Bill died a millionaire and he started with nothing. If you knew him he'd laugh with ya but you'd also know Bill was serious. He was a guy that loved life and everyone around him. I bet most anything he'd a made it work if the navy wasn't damn so picky.
