I was asked I thought people weren't smart enough to know what's good for them on another thread. I replied that half the people are below average in intelligence (probably the majority of Bush advocates) and if people weren't informed how things were being done and if the government leadership doesn't have a responsibility to inform people about how policies such WTO and NAFTA initiatives were going to affect them, then it is tough for voters to vote for their rational interests in this woefully uninformed state. To expect the government to explain this in press conferences and speeches was deemed "breathtaking condescension....". This synopsis of the national consciousness captures 90+ percent of my concerns for this country.
