OT: Bud Light. Hmmm. Last summer, on a Sunday night, I went into a Quincy (just outside of Boston) Irish pub intent on a few pints of Guinness, this after discovering the place was packed with people. All other bars were dead on this particular night.

As I dazed my way past scores of Irish-accented singing and asile-dancing men and women I realized I was the only American by the time I got to the back of the bar, where I placed my order. "I'll have a Guinness, please."

I was feeling lucky. A popular Irish folksinger was making a rare US appearance, and it seemed everyone there knew every word to the songs he sang. Me? I could barely understand any of the words--lol!

So standing with a slight double-elbowed lean on the bar, and after some careful deliberation of the pint I had, I begin sipping my Guinness. As I did so, I looked around the room.

"How odd," I thought. "Here I am in the thick of an Irish Pub, with a musician stoutly belting out Irish madcap tunes and an audience all googled about him, and I was the only person in the bar drinking a Guinness. It was a dead give-away: I was an American! You see, every single of one of 'em--all of those Irish people--were drinking Bud Light. (LOL)

For a bit, I felt like I was a "stranger in a strange land." But I kept to my Guinness, eventually meeting some nice folk and, all in all, had a great Sunday summer evening. The musician was great--he drank Bud Light too--lol!
