Thanks. The CNN article had some items that I didn't see elsewhere. One item in particular, Missouri's attorney general, in a filing with the court, said overturning Simmons' death sentence "would sow inequity and wreak havoc throughout the justice system."

It doesn't seem to me to be a good argument for Missouri to bring up. With 19 States allowing the death penalty for minors, that's inequitable in relation to the nation. He should have pushed on State's Rights and the jury system to sort it out. To "wreak havoc" is over the top and wouldn't have done him any good with any of the Justices. How stupid does he think the Justices are? [I should read the minority opinion just in case.]

I expect that eventually the death penalty will be overturned as unconstitutional [again]. There's plenty of evidence floating around that the death penalty is inequitably applied. A black man is more likely to get the death penalty than someone who is white.
