You've spent time in the 'stans? Interesting. Did you go for work or for personal enrichment? Is there a marked difference between them? I mean, how is Tajikistan different in culture and architecture from Uzbekistan, for example? Just wondering.

I see you're referring to online touring. Never been there myself and that's OK with me. I like going home to my family at night.

I work in the drilling indusry so work with and communicate with people all over the world. I guess about 10 years back I turned down a job opportunity that would have been in Baku. My boss was going and wanted me to go too. The lady who works next door to me just got back from a two-week business trip to Russia (-30 degrees where she was - during the day, colder at night). And I've worked with a number of Russians working here in Houston in recent years. I mention this to indicate that Russia and the Stans are definitely not enemy or hostile regions today. But this was not at all the case years ago.
