Do you have a URL for this transcript? * In a related story, two Fridays ago PBS News Hour host Jim Lehrer chastised columnist Mark Shields for talking about attendees at Bush's social insecurity pep rallies as "having taken the kool-aid". Lehrer criticised Shields on screen for his poor taste in metaphors. PBS was then guilty of censoring this exchange out of their transcript. An act of treachery worthy of the worst Stalinists. * Re: Our military and government failed us miserably on 9/11. Many of us think this was due to a conspiracy to let the events on 9/11 happen for ulterior reasons. But, even if there isn't some grand conspiracy, I differ on this matter. I have seen a consistent pattern throughout the four years of the Bush Administration. In broad terms, anyone in the Administration who dares to tell the truth and embarrass the White House or refuse to go along with the ideological purity of the right wing agenda is summarily fired. The list is quite long by now, including Paul O'Neil, Larry Lindsay, certain generals, Colin Powell (to an extent, since he was perfectly willing to deceive the world), Richard Clarke, John Iulio among others. On the other hand, anyone who maliciously lied for the sake of the Bush agenda has been very well rewarded, including the likes of Kindasleazy Rice, JCS Chief Richard Myers, the FBI's David Frasca and assorted other dirtballs. There is a real pattern here. If you are honest, you are trashed. If you are ideologically pure and willing to lie to the public you will be rewarded. There is a cancer on this Presidency. And unfortunately in the 30 years since Watergate, we now have a mainstream media that is abhorrent to any real democracy, a media that is a mockery of what the Founding Fathers envisioned. America may well have crossed its Rubicon. We may be a hopeless wreck of a nation from here on out. An evil, militarized police state with little hope of ever reviving democracy while lying to the entire planet about our intentions to spread "barrel-of-the-gun demon-ocracy" across the planet wherever the greedy elites find resources they hope to plunder.
