This isn't the first time we'll have to play a role in trying to supplement a father. It will be my first experience in doing it with daughters. Some kids in the neighborhood have either lost parents or are dealing with divorce or just plain rotten parents. When its warm out we're generally "the park" where these kids come and play football or swing or whatever. It's pretty hard for me to say no to a group of my sons friends when they knock on the door and want me to play football. I can't tell you the number of times I've been out there (sometimes in a suit and wingtips) playing ball with the kids. But I'd be a liar if I didn't say I got some selfish satisfaction out of doing it.
