First 10 minutes I rarely do anything except watch.

Afternoons are good, particularly if the intraday moving averages and the stock price have all converged and are moving sideways.

I like to watch for the break. If it comes before 1:30, it is unreliable, and will generally reverse. Between 1:30 and 2pm it is suspect.

If it comes after 2pm, it will usually continue for an hour or more. Closing 20 or 30 minutes, all bets are off, too much scrambling to clear the slates going on.

I think Pristine talks about typical reversal times a lot.

FWIW... I don't daytrade very often anymore, just no time, usually can't watch things much during those hours.

rchlrvn,

If you are a long player I have found that good intra-day entry times are 9:30-10:00, 12:30-1:00, 3:30-3:45. I remember these times from when I was full time professional day-trader.

I like the pace of swing trading at this time of my life now.
