mish,

Re: I am really really disgusted with this administration, our laws.....

Excellent post. I agree with you about the usury situation.

And I was aghast when I learned that Kame-apart was using its financial legerdomain to make a run at Sears. My gosh, the American capitalist system is seriously broken when the fraudsters can overcome sensible managements.... But that's an old story, reminds me of Milken and his "Predator's Ball" school of thievery...

Well said Mish, bankruptcies and delinquent accounts are part of the price of doing business in the financial arena. If these companies don't want to lose money, then let them screen their customers more thoroughly. Otherwise even a chimp could be making loans! I worked as a loan officer and believe me, credit quality goes out the window when these companies want to boost their balance sheets and/or stock price. When disaster strikes (as it always does after one of these binges) they refuse to lend to even the best customers. Sure some people abuse the system but the law keeps the lending institutions honest (most of the time).

Yep "Another day older and deeper in debt." You are right, I was looking at the bankruptcy issue from direct experience. The large scale hosing like Kmart's really affect us all but we have become numbed to them because of the indirect nature of the cost to us personally.
