I'll sell covered
calls when I think I can scalp some easy cash on underlying
shares, but that's about it for options lately.

I only recently (within the past year) have gotten into occasionally selling covered calls. I think it was Dave who put the thought into my head by telling me that by and large the only people who make money in options are those who sell them.

And today I'm seriously considering selling Mar5 calls on SANM to lock in today's nice pop, if it can go a little higher. At a certain point, my thinking becomes "If I get called out of my shares, whatever money I left on the table will likely get captured by the calls I own."

Although it's still got a ways to go before I'm likely to start thinking that. The calls I own are *way* OTM still.

I've only written calls twice. Made money both times. Both times by selling them when I thought the underlying stock looked toppy and wanted to lock in the gain but keep the underlying shares just in case I was wrong.
