Look mindmold, I try to express myself clearly in simple, direct sentences.

I've posted my views on numerous things, large and small, for the past year or so.

Just because you can't fit my views into your way of viewing the world doesn't mean I am talking out of both sides of my mouth.

I've told you many times, you are better off sticking to expressing your view, and not rephrasing other's writings so that you can express their view, because you seem to get their view wrong 99% of the time.

Now, what about that don't you understand?

When your posts aren't clear, you leave people no choice but to interpret your meaning.

I think I write with extreme clarity. Show me some paragraphs I have written where the meaning wasn't clear. I doubt you can find many (unless there were spelling errors).

Then on the other, you seem to think that a backward and virulent Islam poses no threat to the West.

You realize that "virulent" means "full of hate and fierce opposition"

freesearch.co.uk

So if you question is do I consider a backward Islam which is full of hate and fierce opposition a threat to the West? Sure. Other unclear areas you wanna ask about?

You are talking out of both sides of your mouth. On the one hand, you say that Saudi Arabia would be in conflict with that Canadian Muslim and her Project Itjihad to reform and modernize Islam. Then on the other, you seem to think that a backward and virulent Islam poses no threat to the West. So which is it, Elroy?

Wahhabism has been around for centuries. What harm has it done the West? Up until 2001, none to speak of.

And you have to understand that the original practice of Wahhabism is blamed for things when the blame really belongs with the people implementing Wahhabism. When Wahhabism was first developed, its intent was to purify a religion that some felt had become too dependent on omens and hocus pocus garbage. The founder, Wahhab, believed that Muslims were spending too much time worshiping ancillary saints and making pilgrimages to Mecca rather then worshiping the one God. Its the current Saudis who have turned it into this very conservative, dangerously virulent form of Islam. And yet, the West was never effected by the impact of Wahhabism until OBL came along.

There are two main reasons why OBL attacked the US........the military bases we maintain in the Holy Land aka SA and our unconditional support of Israel. Both are thorns in the sides of many Muslims and he acted accordingly. In addition, American support of Saddam, a secular Muslim, did not help matters. The notion that there is a cause and effect to most issues is not just true within the US. Its true in the world as well.

In other words, its not as the many Republican pundits would have us think.........that America was sitting around minding its own business like a good boy and the big bad bully, OBL, came along and smacked us in the head. There were reasons for his attack.

Of course, OBL did what leaders of Muslims nations are afraid to do. After all, the Muslims are not stupid.....they know that the US is powerful. That's why OBL is such a hero in the ME.....he did what others only dared talk about.

And just for the record, while our ancestors were playing with their navels, assuming you are descended from Europeans as I am, their ancestors were inventing the numeric system, the concept of zero, creating the first hospitals, performing eye surgery, printing the first books, developing astrology etc. This world owes much to the inventiveness and intelligence of the Muslims.

Not that I think the West is chopped liver. We have made considerable advancements and improvements to the world. Its just that we did not do it alone.

I ask you questions to pin down your thinking, because your thinking is all over the map. When your posts aren't clear, you leave people no choice but to interpret your meaning.

Elroy is really clear when he's not joking. And from my understanding of things, he has a good sense of how the ME works and the mindset of the average Muslim. Why I suspect you are having trouble following him is because some of it runs counter to the spin we all have been force fed over the past twenty years or so.

We certainly are not getting very much truth out of our gov't now. And I am becoming increasingly convinced our gov't is making things happen in the ME to suit their purposes and to justify their behavior.
