Regional news source reports that the coalition talks between Shiites and Kurds in Iraq failed. Shiites apparently accepted the Kurds' demand that Kurdish leader Talabani become the President, but they did not accept Kurds' demand that their autonomous zone in the North be expanded to included Kirkuk.

Fairness,justice and ethics went out the window when O.J. was freed. Having not watched the daily barrage of testimony, I can't say. In general, a couple of observations. It's difficult for me to imagine why the prosecution took as long as it did with a circumstantial case. I think a shorter trial would have favored the prosecution. Second, the prosecution took a huge gamble with the glove. A couple of attorneys have said to me that you never ask a question that you don't know the answer to. Taking that gamble suggests to me that in spite of what the prosecution was saying in front of the cameras, they weren't convinced that they had a case that would meet the standard of reasonable doubt. And Fuhrman taking the 5th couldn't have helped. It's not supposed to influence the jury, but I'd guess that it did. At the end of the day, 12 jurors that sat through all that crap unanimously found him "not guilty". A jury in a civil case has a lower standard of proof than that in a criminal case. jttmab
