Those are some brave kids, I doubt I would have had the courage to do that when I was in high school.

/but then when I was in high school the big kids beat up the little kids with impunity

I don't have a problem with military recruiters, though I think they should allow the kids to enjoy their youth and start after graduation. But somebody should be around to tell the young folks how often they lie. I still remember the great line for Goldie Hawn in Private Benjamin: "Barracks? Pardon me, but I joined the Army with the condominiums." <G>

Also, when I joined, I got everything I was promised: language school in Monterey for a year (met my college language requirement), intelligence work, rapid promotion and assignment in Germany. But half my class ended up as light weapons infantrymen in Nam, and they had heard the same promises.
