Gold rose in value during the deflation/de-leveraging of the 1930s, but this was the result of a "flight to safety" which accompanied that deflation.

Although deflationary periods are often associated with fear and people looking for a safe-haven for their money, deflations are not strictly associated with increasing gold prices.
