"Just another spin thread -- should have known." Maybe you can explain to me (although I don't really expect that you will) how this works. The majority of the troops who signed up to enter the military over the past couple of years have done so specifically because they wanted to directly participate or support the military in the operations related to Iraq that promote the agenda of America in Iraq. How does saying 'we support the troops but not the war' mean that you are supporting these individuals in what they are trying to do but that you don't support the war. The only explanation that makes sense to me would be to say something like .... 'Well, we don't want our troops harmed in this war'. This has also been said and is be clear and meaningful. If we return to the reality of what the troops are doing, the support statement amounts to 'code speak' for those who are anti-war and don't want our troops to do what they have committed themselves to do. Real language would be to tell the troops 'we don't support you in what you have committed yourselves to do'.

Answer a direct question for me within this context. That might help to clear some of the confusion here. A young man enters the military because he wants to commit himself to the effort and American agenda in Iraq, he is prepared to stand up to the Al-Zaraqawi insurgents and make the ultimate sacrifice if need be. What do you mean by 'we support the troops but not the war' with specific reference to this young man? You hope that he succeeds, or not? In what way are you supporting this troop?
