I agree. Felt the same way when San Jose (my hometown) started their recycle program. It was forced on us, and the first versions were very user-unfriendly. Then, come to find out, they ended up dumping tons of recycled glass into a landfill because there was no market for it...

There seem to be only two sides to the 'Green' category: the cynical and the fanatical. There must be room in the middle.

That's why I think hybrid cars are so great (at least so far). They are one of the few 'Green' efforts to fall into the middle: meaningful yet practical.

I got frustrated with the term 'recycle' when I found out in the eighties that a paper company was picking up the scraps from its floor after cutting, throwing it into the next batch and labeling it 'recycled paper'

Damn; I used to see that in my cannery when I was in college. I haven't eaten pickle relish in 40 years

When I looked at the industry, I realized it was already very corrupted. We all know the difference between an organic garden and commercial produce that is unrestricted,

Organic is an interesting term (I was certified organic for Farmers' Markets); all those chemicals in commercial ag are organic, based on carbon
