I think what junior means when he says seniors benefits won't be affected is that they won't unless it is necessary. He has already said that the way of figuring social security raises should be done differently and you can bet your ass he doesn't want to figure the raises differently so people will get a bigger raise.

"seniors should forget about younger workers and let them fend for themselves with private accounts."
EZ to do. We get memory diseases, like , uh, Oldtimers, and we get way too many years of memory blanking herbs and beer, and are going deaf from Rock and Roll, so don't bother to yell.
I however, have overcome all that, and still remember that I plan on eating young and tender rich folk who are begging for tax relief. If I still have my teeth.
Fend away. I think Pet Food should be a good long term prospect.
What we have worked just fine for my grandparents. It's been pretty valuable for my mom, notwithstanding the fact that my dad was a doc. It was pretty good to a college bud, whose Dad died his soph year. Helped get him, eventually, thru med school. Given my situation, I expect it will entirely support me, leaving everything else I have to play with. I expect it to be there for my kids, and theirs, should they have.
It is a safety net, a lifeline, a way to keep all old folks from having to move out to my wharf and horn in on my trash barrel. It wasn't meant to be used on shofered, however the French spell it, limos. Can we say French? It can be fixed without too much tinkering. If they want private accounts, let them make all the retirement accounts even more attractive, so people can have their cake and eat it, too. I just found out I can still get a deduction for my IRA, despite having a 401-K. I didn't know that. (30% 0f 3K, or 35% 0f 3.5K for us old people over ? 50). Turns out there is also a credit, which gets pretty generous for low income folks, if they can afford it. So we gotta improve that, tax employers for their industrial robots which have replaced SS contributors, maybe make them pay their share saved by off-shoring into the Trust Fund (screw bottom lines and world competition , eh? :-)), remove the cap all the way, so, if you work, you pay yer 7% whatever. Cap payments. If you can't save enuf on a 3 Bil salary to live OK, you deserve to eat dawg food. Fuck the rich; whoops, I shouldn't have said that; eat the rich. Bring all new state and local employees in; feds did that back in the '80's. Oh, and, did I mention? If we eat the rich B4 they turn 62, they won't be able to collect.
