Re: So once again, I note that your post is one sided against the Israelis and mine is unbiased, citing problems in both camps.

That reminds me of the old joke about the media having to give equal time to both sides in a dispute if a schizophrenic is crazy.

I've studied the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for far longer than I care to. The more I learn, the more I've come to loathe Israel for its wanton cruelty, chicanery, deception, false flag operations, conniving and blatant media manipulation.

The problems that the Palestinians pose to the Israelis pale in comparison to the horrors of state terrorism that the Israelis maliciously impose on the Palestinians who are merely trying to defend themselves and their homes from a band of rapacious land thieves.

Rather than the fraudulent "balance" that you suggest, I think the discussion would be very much aided if the true facts were laid out on the table:

You know, it is just ridiculous to try to tell us that Israel is a victim in this one-sided scheme that the Zionists are running.

Why am I so hostile to the Zionist position? Because it so damn coldly calculated:

ISRAEL'S STRATEGY OF INTENTIONAL TERRORISM

In Israeli Prime Minister Moshe Sharatt's personal diaries, there is an excerpt from May of 1955 in which he quotes Moshe Dayan as follows: "[Israel] must see the sword as the main, if not the only, instrument with which to keep its morale high and to retain its moral tension. Toward this end it may, no - it must - invent dangers, and to do this it must adopt the method of provocation-and-revenge...And above all - let us hope for a new war with the Arab countries, so that we may finally get rid of our troubles and acquire our space." Quoted in Livia Rokach, "Israel's Sacred Terrorism." Source: The Origins of the Palestine-Israel Conflict, p. 15

>Sharon is already trying to dismantle what he built in the West Bank

Not enough of it. He hasn't shown that he's willing to give up enough to give the Palestinians a contiguous state in the WB, and there have been several signs to the contrary.

So once again, I note that your post is one sided against the Israelis and mine is unbiased, citing problems in both camps.

That is the problem with the U.N. and Europe and everyone else for that matter. No one can look at this from both sides in an unbiased way. If we had Clinton leading this thing right now, I'd feel a heck of a lot better. Even though I'm Republican and didn't vote for Clinton, I think he'd make a great U.N. Chief. Kofi is a has-been.

On the contrary, I think I see both sides pretty clearly. I think the problem is that the US is so far over on the Israeli side that it has forced the UN and Europe to move over to the Palestinian side.

As for a me, I had several Israeli friends when I lived in LA. It was they that first introduced me to inequities that exist in the Israel/Palestinian conflict and gave me their perspective from the Palestinian side. That's right, they as Israelis provided me with a different view. At that time, I very much came from your view of things and argued with them long into the nite. They thought I was overly naive and suggested that I do some readings. Over time, I began to see the inequities as well.

Having traveled from one side to the other, like I said earlier, I believe I see the conflict very clearly. I certainly don't believe the Palestinians are innocents. On the other hand, the Israelis have all the power. And as you and I both know, power corrupts.......and the Israelis have become so corrupted that on subliminal level, I think they believe they own the Palestinians and can act with impunity when it has to do with Palestinian welfare. I further believe its only their judicial and legislative institutions that keep them from being tyrants and punitive landlords.

Some Israelis are so corrupted they were glad 9/11 happened. That speaks volumes. They thought it meant the world and particularly the US would better understand their plight in the ME and what has become their sequel to the Holocaust. They don't seem to know when enough is enough.
