Muslim contributions are huge and stretch from the 8th century to the 19th.

Ted,
since I am always happy to learn new stuff, maybe you could mention a few of those huge Muslim contributions dated between the 13. and the 19 century?

Taro

No. Saudi Arabia funds mosques all over the globe to preach their form of Islam - Wahabbism. Many of those mosques are right here in America. Did you know that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the U.S.? Did you also know that the majority of that growth is occurring in prisons? Did you know that the Islam they are converting to is that of the Wahabbi sect? Interesting tidbits I found out and more than a little bit unsettling. Our criminals, who are already predisposed to violence and have a grudge against the system, getting inculcated into a jihadi mindset. Very unsettling.

As far as the Muslims timeline, I mentioned the 8th century not as a beginning of the Muslim empire, but as the period when Muslim culture was considered dominant and enlightened...a true contribution to humanity. By the 10-11th centuries, the crusades wracked the Muslim lands. By 14th & 15th centuries, the Muslim empire was already splintered was shrinking. And btw, I hope you are not confusing the Turks with Arab Muslims. But again, all of that was a long time ago. What have they done for humanity lately?
