Do I need to know OBL's history to call him a terrorist? I know what happened in Ireland. And the IRA did its best to make it worse. If I read "Das Kapital" and stand khulaks against walls and shoot them, can I use it to justify my actions? Or if I read the Quran and ram jetliners into buildings, is the fact that I read the book an adequate defense? If the American Indians get their hands on a nuke and blow up NYC with 8 million dead, is the Trail of Tears sufficient justification for their action? Yes? No?
