This showdown has weakened Allawite minority rule in Damascus, the withdrawl from Beirut is the beginning of the end for Allawites Baathist regime.

Syrian Intelligence Headquarters the deadly ''Mukahbaraat'' was surrounded by Lebanon’s Army tanks in disobedience to Syrian hegemony over Lebanon, such an insubordination by a subservient army would not be possible earlier. Nothing has changed the free elections in Palestine, Iraq have raise the expectations of the infamous Arab street, the street now realises that they were sold slogans to encapsulate their minds and enslave their actions they were dancing to the tune of their pied pipers of tyrants. Mubarak and Assad collectively represent two
Totally politically corrupt regimes their days are numbered and nothing expedited this more than free elections of Iraq and Palestine, the credit of both goes to fall of the old guards like Saddam and Arafat.

The Lebanese forces backed down after a short eye ball to eye ball confrontation with the Syrians in heart of Beirut but the writing on the wall is visible to Assad, the war of freedom is about to start in Beirut if he does not totally withdraw. Blood of Hariri has become the catalyst of the change but that catalyst is potent today because their is a gun and carrot behind the scenes in Iraq, Arab street can see that if Iraqi can win their freedom so would they, all that propaganda of imperialism of Americans and control of oil was nothing but attempt of tyrants to keep their ironclad hold on their minds, now what is heart warming is the very little is required for balance of stability to trip, the so called stability and serenity within Arab lands can become chaotic with very little to trigger, hence the commonality of purpose and condemnation from the Arab league demanding Syrians to withdraw, the power of Beirut streets is just going to explode. Very little is required now by the Arab streets to come on streets and demand their rights to free expression.

This would not be likely before set of guidelines post 911 launched by Bush to free ME from tyrants, in a usual Arab traditions of tyrannies after killing ‘Hariri’ Assad Jr would have gone for major crack down to quell dissidents in Beirut. The Arab league would have seen all that as a silent spectator and quelling of free movement would have been dubbed as attempt of Syrian to keep Israelis out of Lebanon.

Hopefully in a total revision of his policy Assad will cave to international community pressures and give, one more significant obstacle to peace in ME will be pulverised, forces of change have taken over events so fast.
